Welcome

Upcoming Closure

Due to budgetary constraints and a major initiative to inventory our holdings, as of July 1, 2008, SAMCC will no longer be offering Tuesday research appointments.

Faces and Places of Sacramento

The Sacramento Archives and Museum Collection Center (SAMCC), with the generous support of Sacramento's Mayor and City Council, is beginning a county-wide project to document the daily life of the Sacramento region. By donating photographs which capture the area's historical, political, and cultural life, community members can greatly assist SAMCC staff in building a rich resource to be preserved for present and future generations. Please consider donating your family photographs to preserve their contribution to Sacramento's rich history.

SAMCC is interested in a variety of photographic subjects. We are seeking TO COPY photographs in the following categories:

FAMILY LIFE
COMMUNITY/SOCIAL LIFE
WORK LIFE
NEIGHBORHOODS
TRANSPORTATION AND COMMUNICATION

Please call (916) 264-7073 to make an appointment for our next event.

The turnout by residents of City Council Districts 2, 3, and 6 from our earlier events made for a great success. More than 800 new photographs have been added to SAMCC’s holdings.  Over the next year we will be in your neighborhood, eventually covering each city council district. Please plan to participate.
