Ethnic Community Survey Results
People of Sacramento Archives In the early 1980s, the History and Science Division administered a grant to gather information about ethnic communities in the Sacramento area. The results of the Ethnic Community Survey were compiled into an interactive computer exhibit for the Sacramento History Center (now the Discovery Museum). In 1999, the Sacramento County Office of Education, in conjunction with the History and Science Commission, produced a CD-ROM version of the Ethnic Community Survey.

The CD-ROM is titled People of Sacramento Archives and traces the history of various ethnic groups that have been part of Sacramento's rich history. Lured by the Gold Rush at first, people from all over the world have arrived in Sacramento in search of a new kind of life, wealth, or adventure. Their stories have left us with a wonderfully varied history.

Contents
The People of Sacramento Archives CD-ROM includes 1,300 images which provide insight into our area's history. The photographs, documents, newspaper articles, and maps are searchable by subject, ethnic community, and date. Each image has text which provides historical information about Sacramento's ethnic communities.

Ordering
People of Sacramento Archives is available to the public for free. Please contact SAMCC if you are interested in picking-up a copy at our offices or in having the CD-ROM mailed to you for $3.00.
